Meet our VCSL Staff
Tom, his wife Monique, and their four children moved to Hong Kong in 2007 to work with a humanitarian organisation. He has done humanitarian projects and provided disaster relief from North Korea to North Africa. He believes that God’s heart is for us to give a voice to those with no voice, to protect the weak and vulnerable, to reach out to the marginalised within our communities, and to fight oppression with love and justice.
Originally from New Zealand, John worked for 15 years as a child and family social worker with a Christian support service. He and his wife Anne, moved to Hong Kong in 2003, and began attending The Vine where he was appointed to the elder’s board in 2005. John joined us as our refugee pastor in 2007, where he helps to oversee our RAS ministry.
Tony, with his wife Drusilla and their family came to Hong Kong in 1986 and has been part of The Vine Church’s leadership team right from its commencement in 1997. He is also one of the Founding Pastors the church. His role as Justice Advocate in order to connect the church with the social issues of the day so that it can become a strong voice for justice in the city.
Lolly worked as flight attendant for seven years before she joining The Vine Church as Relationship Manager in 2010. Four years later, she re-positioned to VCSL. She manages donor relationships and champions our major events, such as the Telema theatre production, Band of Riders Bike-a-thon, and Home & Away Football Tournament. These events aim to raise funds and awareness for VCSL.
STOP. Project Manager
Tina joined STOP. (Stop Trafficking of People) as Project Manager in April 2015. She has lived in in New Zealand, Norway, and Hong Kong. Her passion for forced migration, especially human trafficking, developed whilst pursuing her master’s degree in International Relations and European Studies at Central European University. Prior to joining STOP., Tina has experience working with non-governmental organisations, such as Amnesty International and Christian Action. Besides STOP., Tina is an independent researcher, keen reader, and traveller – she is currently conducting research and about to publish an article on the influence of non-governmental organizations in Hong Kong.
RAS Ministry Lead Pastor
Roy is our Refugee and Asylum Seeker (RAS) Pastor. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Theology and has five years of experience working with RAS. Originally from Cameroon, Roy married Lisa from Hong Kong and together have two beautiful daughters, Peniel and Mizpah. As a family they enjoy the multicultural dynamics in spiritual oneness. Roy is very passionate to see God transforming the lives of RAS, spiritually and physically.
OPP Project Manager
Hyacintha is French of African descent and joined OPP in late 2016 with a big heart for children's education. She first came to Asia during her BBA for an exchange programme in Shanghai. She returned to pursue her MBA at the Southern Taiwan University of Technology, focusing on Sino-African economic cooperation before moving to Hong Kong in 2012. Prior to VCSL she coordinated and taught the African Studies programme at the University of Hong Kong.
Isabella joined VCSL in late 2016 after years of working in media and digital content creation. She grew up in Australia and returned to Hong Kong, her birthplace, in 2011, after completing her university studies and spending a gap year in France and USA. Being an immigrant herself, Isabella understands the difficulties faced by ethnic minorities, which has set her heart to help those who are marginalised by the mainstream society. Isabella is an avid traveller and loves photography. When in town she can be spotted in a coffee shop with a book.
Janice has been working with children and families for over 25 years. She grew up in Canada and returned to Hong Kong, her place of birth, in 2000. She obtained her Master of Social Work in 2008 from the University of Hong Kong. Over the years, her experience includes children and youth at risk, mental health, refugees & asylum seekers, international community development, victim advocacy, and training. Over the last 10 years, she has focused her work and research on the issues surrounding human trafficking, in particular, the sexual exploitation of children and youth. Outside of work, Janice values the time she gets to spend with her husband and two very active boys. She is also an avid environmental, human and animal rights advocate, nature enthusiast, and knitter.
Aline, from Brazil, administers our Keeping Kids in Kindergarten Programme. She holds a post graduate degree in Business Economics with over seven years of work experience in the private sector. In 2015, Aline relocated to Hong Kong and joined VCSL, which gave her the opportunity to work with her passion for education and social justice. Aline dreams of travelling the world, to learn about different cultures, history, and lifestyles. In her free time, Aline loves to going to the beach, doing yoga, and cooking.
OPP Administrative Support
Originally from Chicago, Lynette moved to Hong Kong four years ago with her family and joined VCSL in April 2016. Lynette is a Certified Public Accountant and also a former Peace Corps Volunteer. She has lived in Colombia, Slovakia, Japan, and now Hong Kong. She enjoys spending time with her family and playing tennis.
